Frequently Asked Questions

A Fiduciary is someone who must work in the best interest of someone else. An investment adviser has a duty of both care and loyalty and must embrace the goals and objectives of their client.  This means the adviser cannot place their own interests ahead of their clients’ interests.  They must work in the best interest of the client, at all times.

Yes.  I am a fiduciary in all professional interactions with each of my clients.

I established my business in a way that I would be comfortable if I was on the client’s side of the desk.  My goal is to assist my clients in achieving their goals while helping them better understand there are aspects of planning and investing we cannot control, such as the economy, inflation, and the markets.  At the same time there are aspects we can control such as our asset allocation, rebalancing, and tuning out the noise, especially during volatile times.  I strive to provide the best services at a reasonable price.  Like the late John Bogle said, “The two greatest enemies of the equity fund investor are expenses and emotions.”

As a Fee-Only Financial Planner I assist clients in two ways: managing investment accounts and helping clients address their dreams and goals with a written plan.

A written plan can be comprehensive or limited in scope.  Some aspects of a written plan may include  Retirement Planning, Education Planning, Investment Analysis and Planning, Budget Planning and Debt Management.  The aspects and details of what is addressed in a plan is dependent of the needs of each client.  Click Here to see a full list of the services I provide.

I am an advocate for individuals and families of all walks of life in establishing financial flexibility and turning dreams into goals.

These clients can also be part of 3 categories:

Those who have successfully achieved retirement and are looking for guidance during their retirement years.

Planning for Retirement

Their needs may include:

    • An overall financial plan
    • Planning for children and their education
    • Weddings
    • Starting a side business
    • Planning for retirement

Referrals from Clients

A referral from a current client is the greatest compliment I can receive.

MVK Financial Planning is a Fee-Only Planner.  This means the services of MVK Financial Planning are paid directly by you, just like the professional services of your attorney or CPA.  We DO NOT and WILL NOT accept commissions, referral fees, 12(b)1 fees, or third-party payments.

The compensation structure is transparent and minimizes any conflicts of interest.

No.  My goal is to help families and individuals of all walks of life.  This includes those in the earlier years of their working career as well as those who have achieved retirement.
